EAST AFRICAN MODEL UNITED NATION (E.A.M.U.N)
Anew movement in the school having been formed at the beginning of 2nd term, the M.U.N is an academic simulation of the U.N that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. Students take on roles as diplomats. They research on a country, investigate on international issues, debate deliberate consult then develop solutions to world problems.
During a conference, participants must employ a variety of communications and critical thinking skills in order to fully represent policies of their country. These skills include public speaking, group communication, research, policy analysis, active listening, negotiating, conflict resolution, note taking and technical writing.
P.B M.U.N currently has 42 members from first to third form, eight of which are committee members. M.U.N. is normally active on first term and third term as the mock debate and annual conference fall during this time respectively.
Our goals for 2009/2010 M.U.N year being our first year is to leave a mark at the conference by having at least three of our resolutions passed, winning the best resolution award as well as making a statement as our flexibility as a school and our ability to rise to the occasion when necessary.
